POSITION PURPOSE:  
This is a paid temporary, non-exempt position that will be reporting to the Manager of Development. This individual will be responsible for regional market, permitting and interconnection research. This job requires a person who can act independently to complete discrete task assignments with resources provided by KCE and the position supervisor. The position requires minimal travel to the KCE Office in Albany and to project locations to meet with local officials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Regional market research, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and New York.
    • Assemble information from the development of energy storage and transmission investment related policy from the most recent legislative sessions.
    • Assemble information from approved transmission upgrade projects in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine.
    • Compile research to support long term regional strategic planning.
  • Permitting research Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and New York.
    • Compile information from project areas to understand local opinions and attitudes to renewable energy development. 
  • Support community outreach event for projects located in Connecticut and New York.
  • All other duties as required.
WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven development experience within the respected region.
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid license to drive an automobile.
  • Project management including scooping projects, estimating costs, and creating schedule and budgets using management software such as excel, MS Project and Smartsheet.
  • Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with GIS software.
  • Experience with land acquisition.
  • Knowledge of local and state-level permitting processes. Prior legal experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of grid-scale batteries, renewable energy, energy markets, and electrical engineering a plus.
  • Proven experience delivering time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to climb or balance
  • Must be able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors
