POSITION PURPOSE:
This is a permanent, exempt, position that will be reporting to the Director, Controller. Key Capture Energy (“KCE”) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and assisting with monthly close processes. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, supporting internal and external audits, and providing financial analysis to drive business decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial forecasts.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
- Create all journal entries and other adjustments.
- Oversee the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and working papers.
- Assist with the preparation of tax returns (e.g., sales tax, income tax, and other local taxes).
- Support tax audits and compliance-related inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports that provide insight into the company’s financial performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- All other duties as required
WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or other professional certification preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong background in general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency with NetSuite and familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning and Quick Books preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and tax laws. Experience with IFRS is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
