POSITION PURPOSE:
This is a temporary, non-exempt position that will report to the Director, GIS This individual will leverage geospatial analysis techniques to support Key Capture Energy in identifying and analyzing sites for grid- scale energy storage opportunities. This internship is a rare opportunity to gain career-making GIS and software development experience as well as advanced exposure to the Energy Sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- GIS Data Analysis: Dive into wide-ranging geospatial datasets encompassing land use, land ownership, environmental factors, and electrical transmission systems.
- Script Development: Harness the power of Python to automate workflows for site selection, map production, landowner engagement, interconnection queue data mapping, rate assessments, and beyond.
- Machine Learning: prepare, train, and run models within ArcGIS Pro related to advanced Satellite Imagery Analysis and site selection.
- Engage in cross-team collaboration to support Key Capture Energy’s development and commercial pipeline.
- Assist team and project leads as directed.
- Interact effectively in-person, by electronic communication and by telephone.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Contribute to a positive work environment.
- All other duties as required
- Required proficiency in Python and any GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GeoPandas, Leaflet).
- At least one year of software development experience in a professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver time-pressured projects punctually and with high quality.
- Passionate about the renewable energy space and confident in their work product.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of working at a computer
- Must have the ability to distinguish colors.
