Travel: 50%

Position Purpose:

This is a full-time, exempt position that will be reporting to the Director of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality. This individual will be responsible for supporting a complete HSEQ program for fast growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) company. This position has the potential to improve the entire BESS industry regarding safety by leading working groups and increasing safety perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and facilitate health safety, environmental and quality programs for Key Capture Energy as assigned in support of  a wholistic program including but not limited to the Battery Energy Storage System projects and substations.
  • Coordinate employee HSEQ training to facilitate HSEQ awareness and reduce employee's exposure to hazardous materials and situations.  Provide expertise and mentoring to management and employees on issues related to health, safety, environmental, and quality.
  • Complete HSEQ Administrative duties including but not limited to HSEQ data entry, metrics tracking, purchase request entry, PPE supply/maintenance programs, and JSA auditing.
  • Conduct audits of work practices and processes for potential safety hazards and compliance with all KCE policies, and procedures. Report findings and recommendations to management.
  • Inspect construction and operating sites and associated equipment for potential hazards and compliance with applicable HSEQ related state and federal laws. Report findings and recommendations to management. Facilitate corrective action teams.
  • Support investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, and job site safety; and make recommendations to correct any issues. Perform Root Cause Analyses, facilitate implementation of appropriate corrective actions, and ensuring that they are implemented.
  • Travel to various project sites and ensure all health, safety, environmental and quality protocols are being followed.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and codes as well as all internal Key Capture Energy policies and procedures and support OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the development of the HSEQ department budget.
  • Drive HSEQ culture with all aspects of KCE's assets, offices, and sites
  • All other duties as required

Work Experience & Requirements:

  • Experience with OSHA, UL, and NFPA Standards
  • Experience with implementing Quality Systems.
  • Experience with supporting implementation of Environmental Requirements.
  • At least five years industry experience with BESS experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience
  • Capable of developing HSEQ programs for that will be easily scalable as the company grows quickly.
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative manner and achieve work goals through influence.
  • Knowledgeable in leading a team through hazard identifications.
  • Experienced in health, safety, environmental quality & policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience delivering time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to climb or balance.
  • Must be able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
